K2, Spice, Fake Marijuana, Skunk, Yucatan Fire, Moon Rocks, K-6 Summit, Black Widow and Black Mamba are just a few of the street names for marijuana-like substances that can cause reactions including rapid heart rate, vomiting, agitation, confusion, and hallucinations. Five of these compounds are now banned by the DEA, but more than six compounds have been created since then and are available for use. The above website is a tool kit developed by NY's Offices of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services for Tobacco Awareness and Cessation. They are glad to share it with all who are interested.
It is a wealth of information. The curriculum contains 5 modules complete with trainer manuals, participant manuals and power points. There is a section for administrators on building staff buy-in and developing policies. There is a section for clinicians on developing treatment plans, facilitating groups tobacco awareness and recovery groups, and tobacco assessment, diagnosis and pharmacotherapy.
